GRADE 2 - LISA MOLNAR
What are the chances of the
frog eating a (red, blue, yellow, etc) firefly? Certain or impossible? More likely, less likely or equally likely?
Spend 5 minutes playing each game under "Describing Chances."
Extensions: (these could be done with manipulatives or pencil/paper at the student's desk): -What if we added a different kind of insect for the frog to eat?
-What if there were two frogs instead of one for each problem? How would this change the outcome?

Totally fun! Such great problems chosen. This is an amazing way to use a blog for the classroom!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way to introduce math through technology and making learning fun.
ReplyDeleteLove the extension to enrich the activity, and the game seems appropriate for grade 2. The language might be confusing and would need to be explicitly instruction before.
ReplyDeleteI really like the site ... and my grade 2's would love the graphics however the fractions would be far too hard to recreate.
DeleteA great way to introduce and practice fractions
ReplyDeleteGreat math activities in math thinking progression of probability!
ReplyDeleteThis game was so fun, and very easy to follow and understand!!
ReplyDeleteNeat website! I like how i can firgure out a given problem and manipulate to solve a problem. I also like the option of the help button as it explains more clearly how to find probability with examples. I would question if the language used under the help tab is at the students level.
ReplyDeleteI found this one addicting! It is visually pleaseing and inviting to grade 2 (and teachers college) students! I love the degree of differentiation that is available. It would be a great way to reinforce probability and fractions knowledge with students. Really fun!
ReplyDeleteThis would be tons of fun for young students. In my classroom I would use it as practice.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great activity and one I would probably use for practice of concepts learned in class.
ReplyDeleteI would use this problem with an older game, for example grade 6 students would benefit from this type of problem. I might just use this in my next placement!
ReplyDeleteWhen completing this problem I did find it a bit difficult to understand the instructions, however once I figured it out there was a lot of problem solving involved!
Excellent resource!
